Diclofenac Side Effects Include an Increased Risk of Heart Attacks

Anti-Inflammatory Diclofenac side effects can be detrimental to your health, as can those of other anti-inflammatory drugs, many of which have been under fire recently.

As such, more and more arthritis patients are turning to natural alternatives to these medications, known as NSAIDs, as they are finding they are able to treat their condition safely and effectively without the need for potentially dangerous presciption drugs.

What is Diclofenac and what does it treat?

Marketed under the name Voltaren, it is one of a class of traditional nonsteroidal anti-inflammatoriesand is prescribed to treat osteoarthritis as well as rheumatoid arthritis and spondylitis.

Unfortunately, although it can be helpful there are many possible adverse reactions with Voltaren that you should be aware of before you beging taking this drug.

The side effects of Voltaren could include "serious gastrointestinal effects" such as inflammation, bleeding, ulceration and perforation of the stomach with or without warning.

Voltaren side effects could also include liver problems, with rare cases of severe hepatic reactions, jaundice and hepatic failure...fatal reactions have even been reported. Kidney problems and anemia are other potential problems, as well as fluid retention and edema.

As recently as February of 2011 safety labels were changed to warn of various drug interactions and two digestive issues: fulminant hepatitis and liver necrosis.

So you can see that diclofenac sodium side effects can be quite serious, and could lead to severe health conditions or even death.

That's why you might be better off with a natural alternative to Voltarenand other NSAID arthritis medications.
